
Session 2C: Shining the Light on Your Chapter: Creating a Public Awareness Campaign
Track: Chapter
Identify new resources, leverage current stakeholders, and utilize digital platforms to launch a successful public awareness campaign. Participants will receive a comprehensive step-by-step tool kit and examples of content/collateral will be included. The workshop will also provide practical ways to help educate the community about child abuse. This approach makes creating and launching a public initiative and awareness campaign achievable for staff to manage while gaining new community support.

Lori joined the Pat’s Place team in November 2015 after spending almost 13 years with LIFESPAN in Charlotte, North Carolina. Lori brings over 16 years of experience that includes fundraising, building community relationships and advocacy efforts.

Shawna is the Director of Education and Community Engagement at Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center. Shawna is responsible maintaining and expanding the training and prevention program and creating community relationships. Shawna also is responsible for coordinating the anti-trafficking response for youth in Mecklenburg County. Shawna has volunteered with anti-trafficking organizations in Thailand, Bulgaria, and Kenya. Shawna received her Master of Social Work from UNC Charlotte. She also serves as the co-chair of the Charlotte Metropolitan Human Trafficking Task Force.
