Narrative Instructions 

Below please find the narrative requirements for each award type. Please answer each question for your award category when completing the award nomination narrative. 

You may find it helpful to prepare your 500 word maximum narrative in a word document prior to completing the online form. You will then be able to cut and past your narrative into the online submission form.

Bud Cramer Advocacy Award

1. How has the nominee promoted the mission of CACs?

2. How has the nominee exhibited initiative in addressing the issues facing abused children?

3. How has the nominee exhibited outstanding leadership qualities resulting in the enhancement of CACs?

4. How has the nominee heightened awareness of the CAC mission beyond a single community?

Community Philanthropy Leadership Award

1. How has the nominee’s support strengthened the organization and/or its programs? What did the funds enable the organization to do that it could not accomplish previously?

2. How has the nominee encouraged/motivated others to assume philanthropic roles? What were the outcomes of this encouragement?

3. Describe a specific instance in which the nominee’s support helped the organization to achieve its fundraising goal.

4. How long has the organization/individual been providing direct support to the beneficiary organization within Children’s Advocacy Center movement?

Horowitz-Barker Lifetime Achievement Award

1. How has the nominee worked with CACs in his or her professional capacity? To what extent has the nominee been uniquely responsible for improved CAC services to children and families?

2. How has the nominee exhibited outstanding leadership and teamwork qualities resulting in the development, continuation, or success of a Children’s Advocacy Centers and the CAC movement?

3. In what way has the nominee mentored or trained other CAC leaders?

4. What makes this nominee uniquely qualified for a lifetime achievement award?

Innovative Changemaker Award

1. Describe the innovative practice/program attributed to the nominee.

2. How has the nominee worked with the local CAC or Chapter to develop and implement innovative programs/practices?

3. How has the nominee shown resourcefulness and creativity in empowering others to better serve children and communities?

Outstanding Chapter Leader Award

1. How has the nominee worked statewide with CACs in his or her professional capacity? To what extent has the nominee been uniquely responsible for improved services for CACs?

2. What enhancements of multidisciplinary team functioning at the CACs can be attributed to the nominee?

3. How has the nominee exhibited outstanding leadership, advocate and teamwork qualities resulting in the development, continuation, or success of Children’s Advocacy Centers within the state?

Volunteer Leadership Award

1. How has the nominee worked with local CACs in a volunteer capacity?

2. How has the nominee shown resourcefulness or creativity in raising awareness of issues facing abused children?

3. How has the nominee exhibited outstanding leadership qualities resulting in the enhancement of one or more CACs?
