The NCA Health Access Data Project
National Children’s Alliance (NCA) is committed to ensuring fair access to CAC services for all children. To meet this critical goal and develop strategies to achieve it, the Children's Advocacy Center (CAC) field needs robust data about how well CAC medical and mental health services are reaching the children and families we serve--and whether that access accurately reflects the makeup of the children and families we serve and the broader community.
To this end, NCA launched the Health Access Data Project in 2023 as a first step toward increasing the quantity and accuracy of access-related service data. The goal of this project is to support CACs to use data that they already collect to assess service access and disparities in a way that minimizes the burden on busy CACs. In the longer term, the goal of this project is to apply insights from enhanced data to augment strategies for ensuring access to CAC services.

Be at the Forefront: The NCA Health Access Data Pilot Project
NCA is launching a pilot project to test new tools for understanding equity in medical and mental health service delivery and referral. These tools organize data that CACs already collect to make it easier to assess for the presence, magnitude, and nature of disparities in services delivery.
We need your help! NCA is seeking CACs who are willing to serve as Health Access Project pilot sites. Pilot sites will be given access to the new data tools, brief training on how to use them, and will be asked to collect and organize their services data between February and May of 2025. Pilot sites will have early access tools that can assist with better understanding strengths and gaps in services - for more information, please download the pilot project description below.

2023 Service Data Gap Analysis: Identifying Medical and Mental Health Disparities at CACs
In 2023, NCA Contracted with the delCarmen Consulting team to assess the quantity and quality of data collected by CACs that could be used to assess service equity and disparities. This document is the final report from that assessment, and informed the development of a disparities data template that can be used to organize already existing disparities-related data.
